Our Story

Lockhill began in 2014 with a simple idea: that an escape room could be more than a series of puzzles. It could be a place where story, atmosphere, architecture, technology, acting and player choice come together to create something that feels genuinely alive.

What started as a single Victorian village built inside an old building in Athens gradually evolved into an interconnected universe, where every location, every character and every experience became part of the same narrative. Rather than treating each room as a standalone attraction, we chose to build a world that players could return to again and again, discovering new pieces of a much larger story. From introducing fully themed receptions and interconnected storylines, to experimenting with live performance, cinematic sequences, immersive environments and emotionally driven narratives, our goal has never been to follow trends. It has always been to explore what this medium is capable of becoming.

Over the years, every major project has been driven by the ambition not simply to meet industry standards, but to push them further. By introducing new approaches to storytelling, immersive design, technology and live performance, our experiences have helped redefine expectations within the medium and influence the way immersive experiences continue to evolve. This pursuit of innovation has earned Lockhill extensive international recognition. Chapel & Catacombs was ranked #1 in the world in the 2022 TERPECA Top Room rankings and has continued to rank among the world’s top escape rooms in subsequent years. It was also ranked second in the 2021 Escape Room Awards for Best International Room. The Sanatorium has likewise received international recognition, including a 2020 Golden Lock Award and repeated TERPECA Top Room rankings, while House on the Hill was named a 2026 Golden Lock Award winner.

Our work has also extended beyond Lockhill itself. We have designed and developed escape room experiences for venues in Greece and in other countries, working with international partners to bring our approach to storytelling, game design, technology and live performance to new audiences.

Today, Lockhill continues to evolve through local and international projects, bringing the ideas and experience developed at Lockhill to new places and audiences around the world. Every new project is an opportunity to experiment, take creative risks, and push immersive storytelling a little further than before. Because innovation comes from imagining what doesn't exist yet.
